QUEENSLAND-based Filipino import Jack ‘Assassin’ Asis fights in the main event of a Brendon Smith card for the World Boxing Council Asia-Continental super-featherweight championship on Friday, October 4, 2013, at Toowoomba’s Rumours International.
At the opposite corner will be Japan’s Hirohito Fukuhara.
Asis is riding high on a winning streak of eight wins against boxers from different parts of the world.
“I’m very excited about the opportunity to fight for the WBC Asia Continental title” Asis said
Smith was cautious: ”Jack will have no easy task with Hirohito, who brings a lot of experience from Japan. Japanese fighters always fight with honours, so on can expect a war with Jack.”
Also on the boxing card will be the undefeated Brayd ‘Great White’ Smith, who returns after a four and a half month lay off following a hand-fracture and a flexor tendon tear on his wrist in his last fight.
outing will move back in to a title fight.
Rounding out the five championships bouts and adding to what is already shaping up as ”wild” card will be three Queensland title tilts for the featherweight, lightweight and junior-welterweight belts.
